As every year the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, is prepared to attend the pilgrimage of the Queen of Angels in the Peña de Arias Montano. In that magic corner that the famous humanist and chaplain of Felipe II retired back in the sixteenth century.

It was in 1924 when a representation of the high society of Aracena, which also included the infants Don Carlos and Doña Luisa, went to worship the Queen of the Angels in her Sanctuary in the Peña de Arias Montano. There are some valuable documentaries rescued and restored by the production company, the Dalp – Nazarí (participated by Javier SánchezDalp, Marqués de Aracena).

On September 7: at 7:00 a.m. in the streets of Alájar and at 11:00 p.m. departure from El Poleo (pilgrimage only for riders, with the authorities of the town, the Big Brother, the mayor, the parish priest, etc. .) to La Peña, where an offering is made to the Queen of the Angels. In the afternoon concert of the Music Band in the town square. At night, at 23:00 h Holy Rosary for the Real de la Peña, then, performance of the band.

September 8: A multitudinous gathering of visitors and pilgrims who join the Peña to venerate the Patron of the Sierra under the patronage of the Brotherhood of Alájar and the brotherhoods arrived from Aracena, Fuenteheridos, Linares de la Sierra, Galaroza, Santa Ana la Real, Castaño del Robledo as well as the populations of the Nerva and Campofrío Mining Basin, together with a subsidiary of Seville.

From 9.30 am, the arrival of the romeras branches will start in strict order of seniority. Once all the brotherhoods enter, around 12.30, the Queen of the Angels will leave her hermitage on the shoulders of pilgrims and faithful and procession through the place of the Rock, in view of thousands of visitors who congregate every year in this beautiful place of the Natural Park of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche.

For a day the Peña loses its usual tranquility and become a gigantic demonstration of the delicacies of mountain cuisine, with sausages, ham, cheeses … among others of Sierra de Jabugo, where there is no lack of sangria and punch, which are offered friendly pilgrims and visitors.

At dusk, the brotherhoods will begin the collection and the way back with the Simpecados to their villages of origin, after an intense day of unity, good atmosphere and devotion to the Queen of the Angels.
